May 5th is a national holiday in South Korea: Children's Day! Parents and their children spend the day together doing things the children enjoy such as going to an amusement park, the zoo, or national parks. Sometimes the children receive gifts as well. We celebrated Korean Children's Day by going to the park (these pictures are from my phone, sorry for the poor quality!) I can't believe my Big Boy can climb the stairs and go down the slides all by himself!
We also ate Korean bipbimbap (rice, meat, and vegetables mixed together) for dinner and had ice cream cones for dessert. DW kept saying "ice cweam comb." :)
In adoption news, we had our yard sale last Saturday. It rained a little bit, but overall was a beautiful day! We sold a lot of stuff and raised almost $900! We are so blessed to have wonderful friends and family who helped us all day long by donating items, pricing items, running the cashier's table, baking items to sell, and keeping track of DW as he ran around everywhere. People that I didn't even know came the morning of the sale and dropped off donations because they wanted to help. One very needy elderly gentleman, who looked like he has had a rough life, came to the sale and looked around. He came back twice and brought a few boxes of donations from his house around the corner. The boxes included packaged items like makeup and toys that looked like they came from a closeout store. We didn't know him, and he hardly said a word, but smiled as he gave us the boxes. How humbling that someone who has far less than us would donate items to support our adoption?! We could all take lessons from this man's generosity and kind spirit.
