Sunday: Rest and E-Mart

We didn't do much on Sunday. We slept a lot and then walked around and found E-Mart, which is kind of like a Walmart Supercenter. It was a cultural experience! 3 cans of Spam cost 13,300 won (~$13), and a bottle of syrup was 10,000 won. They do not have Diet Coke around here, and I am missing it. However, I did find Coke Zero. There was a kimchi bar with several varieties to choose from, and lots of seafood, including live crab (the biggest I've ever seen in my life!). Tim and I only had a few items and thought we would use the express lane to check out. The clerk quickly made us move to a non-express lane, and then we saw the sign...5 or less. I think we had 10 items. Anyway, I got to use one of the Korean survival phrases I learned: chesumhamnida "I'm sorry" We moved to another lane, and then realized that everyone had brought their own bags, and that there were no plastic bags to be found. We stuffed as much as we could in my backpack and had to carry the rest. It was as crazy in E-Mart on a Sunday afternoon as it is back home in Walmart. Lots of people and carts going every direction. Tim found some fried chicken for dinner, and I got some noodles (japchae). Enjoy the pictures!
